Printing technology and newspapers

Abstract

The scope of this is to investigate printing technology in news- papers and to investigate the technology used in newspapers in Scot- land. The study is built on three main subjects: the first is to inves- tigate printing technology in newspapers with historical background, which is expressed in the section on typesetting (hand-typesetting, Linotype, electronic and digical typesetting with advantages and di- sadvantages), printing technology and the current technology. The se- cond is to out newspaper technology used in Scotland, which is a case study, and it covers circulations, selling price, publication frequ- ency, papaer size, typesetting, printing methods and so on. The third and last section is to enlighten Turkish press and Turkish local news- papers' printing technology.
